U.S. Investigate Sony Optical Drive

U.S. Justice Department monopoly trading division is conducting an investigation of Sony’s optical drives. This investigation to explore the possibility of violation of the rules of trade monopoly on the product Sony optical drives.

“Sony Optiarc America has received a written summons from the U.S. Department of Justice. We supply products of optical disk drives including DVD, CD-ROM, CD-R and Blu-ray,” Sony spokesman said as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday ( 27/10/2009).

According to him, other countries are also currently trying to find information about the competition in the field of optical disk drives. But he refused to name any country in question and whether Sony became also one of the subjects in the other tests.

In addition, Sony refused to say explicitly that his product was investigated by the Justice Department the United States. He did not mention, whether Blu-ray objects, including his alleged violation of the rules of trade monopolies.
